How to prepare for General Awareness section for SSC CHSL 2019 exam?

We hope that you all have read the official notifications for SSC CHSL 2019 exam now. The application forms of SSC CHSL 2019 exam became available from March 5, 2019. The interested aspirants can apply in online mode only and the last date of submission of application form is April 4, 2019. In SSC CHSL 2019 exam, General Awareness section is the most scoring section and is one section that plays important role in almost every competitive exam. This section carries 50 marks and has 25 questions where each question carries 2 marks. To give an overview of this section, we should inform you that syllabus of this section is wide-spread and can be complex at times, if you don’t have good preparation strategy. Despite the fact there is a huge “unpredictability factor” of question in the examination, we should advise you to understand and examine syllabus and exam pattern carefully and pay extra importance to significant topics.

Normally speaking, the candidates are supposed to have good knowledge of current affairs based on India, Indian politics and constitution, static GK, significant events and happening worldwide, scientific developments and inventions etc.

After thoroughly examining previous year papers, we have divided the General Awareness section into three major parts- Static General Knowledge (GK), Science and Miscellaneous. Now, we will describe division of marks part-wise, so that you should have an overview of the predictable questions on the examination day.

The Static GK covers around 10 to 15 marks and so it is the most important part. The most repeatedly asked questions are from Culture, Indian History, Geography, Environment, Economy and Polity.   1. Firstly, you should prioritize important topics by thoroughly scrutinizing previous year papers. So, the first task is to carefully study and examine the nature and type of questions asked in last few years to get an overview of important topics and you may also get beneficial SSC CHSL Test Series.

The most noteworthy tip is to develop a habit of reading English newspapers and informative magazines, watching News Channels and surfing useful on daily basis to be updated on current affairs and other important happenings.   4. In Miscellaneous part, you should try to stress more on topics like first in Sports for India and World like First Olympics, India’s defence training institutes, border lines with India, joint military exercise with India, First Asian Games etc, Famous Sea Ports, Airports and their locations, Important Institutions of India and World & their locations (like BRICS, World Bank, IMF and RBI etc.), Nobel Laureates & their Fields, Union Budget, Demonetization and Economic Survey, Important Books & Writers etc.
  5. In every SSC CHSL exam, the time management has played very crucial role and so make sure that you answer quickly and should not spend more than 30 seconds on one question.
